Volunteer Opportunities

Hardware & Electrical

The perfect place to volunteer your mechanical skills! All electrical or batteries operated items go to the hardware bench. Help evaluate and test each item before it goes out to the retail floor.

Furniture Pick-Up

Furniture pick-up helps donors move or downsize while giving to the local community. We need volunteers with strong backs to load and transport large items to Save & Serve. We’ll supply the box truck.

Cleaning

There is no task too great or too small! We strive to keep the store clean and odor free. Volunteers who vacuum, clean and tidy shelves help us maintain a fresh and friendly presence for our customers.

Restocking

The best part of thrift shopping is that the merchandise changes daily. Volunteer designers help keep our retail floor and displays eye catching!

Pricing & Tagging Items

Once donations are sorted, we need volunteers to price the items before they make it to the retail floor. Whether it’s a rack of clothing or a cart of household items, each thing you price is another item that can be sold to support MCC’s relief, development and peace work around the world.

Donation Sorter

Often working as groups, donation sorters glean through everything! They keep our backroom processing efficient and fun! We need volunteers who can spot hidden gems, vintage finds and quality items.

Drive-Thru Donation Attendant

We value the generosity of our donors! We need volunteers with friendly smiles and strong backs to help us handle the variety of items that are donated each day. Attendants lend a hand to donors while keeping the donation porch organized and swept clean.

Retail Assistant

Retail assistants provide support to cashiers, answer routine customer questions and keep the retail floor looking organized.

Bagger

Volunteer baggers help the cashier by bagging bought items, providing friendly customer service and helping maintain efficient transactions. Fragile or glass items may require additional wrapping.

Cashier

Volunteers who work the cash register are another friendly face at Save & Serve. As they help customers complete their purchases, they have the opportunity to make acquaintances with Holmes County locals and with our many out-of-state visitors.

“To do things which can help those who need things but maybe can’t afford by offering good prices. Everyone I work with make it enjoyable to be around. I love interacting with customers and making a bad day just a little bit better. I worked here I think 3 years and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
